Based at Harefield the Maybury Open Door is coordinated by the Michael Roberts Charitable Trust (MRCT).

The aims of the Maybury Open Door are to promote the ABILITY of disabled people and to encourage them to take an active role in the day-to-day activities and development of the centre.

It is a drop-in-centre for the local community and everyone is welcome to attend over the age of 18.

The centre is managed by both able-bodied and disabled people.

Supporting a wide range of people

Maybury Open Door supports a wide range of users including the elderly, people with a disability, homeless and vulnerably housed people, people on low income, isolated people and others who just need to venture out and meet new friends.

Activities include table tennis, snooker, art and crafts, board games, computers including access to the internet alongside other programmes to help each person feel welcome and relaxed.

The centre also has an active community programme and arranges trips to local places of interest.  Refreshments and a light lunch are provided at a small cost during the day.

We live in a world where everyone is encouraged to improve themselves and achieve.  We soon discover that in society this is not always possible.   Not everyone has the same opportunities or encouragement to develop as an individual.

The Maybury Open Door centres have been established to help and support people who are often perceived as being disadvantaged.  Disadvantaged through either disability or social difficulties.

This makes a difference by providing opportunities so that these people can have a helping hand to improve their lives, enabling and empowering them to develop to their full potential.
