The Dunamis network is the name
of the Harefield home-groups
At Harefield we
believe that the real powerhouse of the church is derived from smaller focused
groups. Our Dunamis network spreads out across the town of Harlow and our groups
meet every week in homes.
Dunamis is the
Greek word for ‘Power’...
The word ‘Dunamis’
is at the root of our English words: dynamite and dynamic.
‘Dunamis’ is God’s ‘X’ factor for His church and people. Other translators
explain ‘Dunamis’ as -
-
‘act of power’
(Young’s);
-
miraculous power,
ability’ (Strong’s);
-
‘capability, power
to do anything; then, power, might in action’ (Bullinger’s).
Dunamis
network aims
The Dunamis
Network is the way in which people can meet with each other in one person's
home, share what is happening in their lives, pray, learn with and from one
another, and study the bible. The groups are a mixture of Bible study and
relationship building. To grow relationships the groups should develop social
activities into their plans, preferably with an activity once a month.
The Dunamis network
has the same four priorities that the church shares; mission, evangelism,
teaching and pastoral care , so that we can grow to maturity together.
Why
small groups..?
While Sundays are a time
to come together as one body, the Dunamis network are groups of people
meeting together to build healthy relationships, provide support and foster
spiritual growth. The focus of Dunamis is to cultivate relationships and
grow together spiritually with opportunities to reaching out to the
un-churched in our community.
Healthy
relationships
Building healthy relationships with God and with people is foundational to
everything in the Christian's life. Healthy relationships help ensure that
no one walks alone through the circumstances of life. (Romans 12:10-16;
Galatians 6:2)
Connecting
people
In a large church, a home group is the best way to get to know others who
accept you and care about you. Dunamis helps you to quickly find a place to
fit in. (Acts 2:42-44; Romans 15:5-7)
Enhancing spiritual growth
Home groups, we believe, are the best environment for people to grow spiritually. Dunamis people are empowered for ministry
by using the things they are good at and interested in to help and support each
other. (1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:16; 1 Corinthians 14:12)
As
part of our God-given vision
As part of our God-given vision for the local area and Harlow, our Dunamis network will
take the Harefield heartbeat into homes across our town working alongside
our
Servant Evangelism activities.
As the very heartbeat of Harefield we
encourage everybody to get connected.
