Our Baptism Services are always great events!

For us at Harefield these services have always been some of our most exciting and fun times.

Once you start your lifelong adventure with Christ, baptism by immersion is a tangible way of showing your new commitment.

We invite you, if you haven't yet been baptised but are a follower of Jesus, to consider this next step in your Christian walk

What is the meaning of Baptism?

Just like a wedding ring signifies a marriage, the act of baptism signifies a life change and acceptance of Jesus into your life.

• It illustrates Christ’s burial and resurrection.  It says "I am a follower of Jesus, who died and rose again for me."

“For when you were baptised, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ."  Colossians 2:12

• It illustrates my new life as a Christian. It says "Now I'm a follower of Jesus, I'm determined to live a brand new life!”  Baptism doesn't make you a believer - it shows that you believe. 

“When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!"  2 Corinthians. 5:17 

Baptism is an outward symbol of the commitment you make in your heart.

Who should be baptised?

Every person who has believed in Christ.

At Harefield, we wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptise them.

This is very much a thing that is different for every child.  If your child wants to be baptised, please speak to one of the church leaders.

"Those who believe and accepted His message were baptised..."  Acts 2:41 

When should I be baptised?

As soon as you have believed and is practically possible. 

Don't put it off waiting for the right moment!  If you are a follower of Jesus, baptism is something that should be sought out as soon as possible.

"Those who believe...were baptised...that day!" Acts 2:41     

What should I wear when I am baptised?

Women should wear shorts or slacks and a top which will preserve modesty.  Men may wear shorts and t-shirt.  Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a plastic bag for your wet articles of clothing.  We provide a place to change.

Will I have to say anything?

If you want to, you can include a short testimony of why you're getting baptised and what God has done in your life.  During the service the speaker will explain the meaning of baptism. 

You should choose a special worship song that has been an encouragement to you. 

We encourage you to invite all your relatives and friends to attend your baptism.

What if I have special needs?

Just talk to us!  We can normally find a way around most things!
